Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

domestic violence help!please this is what happened .....i filed on the father of my child (for domestic violence)during this time he ( my child's father) asked for his rights over our child keep in mind he has not been in our child's life sine he was born and is now only stating that he wants visitation with his son to make him appear better. he is also making false accusations about me concerning that either i am or was allegedly selling my food stamps as well as making a false report of him abusing me due to me just wanting help from the government he brought two witnesses whom of which are on drugs whom i'm concerned is being paid to be a witness for him either with drugs and or money. Can i counter cue him for making false statements about me? i have many other question please send all and any advise possible will be greatly appreciated my email is [email protected]

You need an attorney. Your situation is far too complex to resolve over a blog like LawGuru or Avvo. With domestic abuse in the picture, you have a good chance that Legal Aid would provide you a free attorney.

Don't worry about countersuing for false statements made against you. That is just a distraction. You need to stay focused on protecting your child from an abusive person. If the father was convicted for a crime that involves family violence OR has received deferred adjudication for a crime of family violence (within the last 2 years), he will have a hard time in court.
