Effects a new relationship has on Visitation

I am currently seperated and have two children. I have agreed to give him custody of our children, but he says if I date before the divorce is final he will have my visitation taken away. Can he do this?

A spouse cannot do anything.

A judge can take your visitation away.

If you live in the Houston area, I offer a free consultation at 713-847-6000. Be sure to let me know that you found me on lawguru.com

PS - Most judges disapprove of people taking their children around "new relationships" while they are still married. For more details, you need to talk to an attorney that knows the policy of the court you are assigned to for your divorce.

In a simple word, no he cant do that, Fran is right that most judges dont like you to involve your kids in a new relationship, but you can date and hire a sitter. It also seems to me that you are being controlled and that you may want to contest custody. If youya re in the Austi/San Antonio area please call me for a free consult at 512 392 5010.
