Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Emancipation for my stepdaughter

My question is can I help her so she could live with me the only dad she really knows?

I am currently separated from my wife of 8 years, will be filling for divorce next week. I have 2 step daughters that I have raised for 10 years. They have only known their biological father since Xmas of 07.

When my wife left with her new boyfriend my oldest stepdaughter 14 wanted to stay with me but her mother gave her an ultimatum of living with her or her biological father in another state, she chose to go there to get away from her mother. She is not happy there and now he will not let me or any of her friends or sisters talk to her.

Re: Emancipation for my stepdaughter

Unless one of the parents is willing to work with you, I cannot think of anything you can do. She cannot be emacipated at 14. When you divorce, you can attempt to mediate some visitation with her, so thatat least you can maintain contact.
