emotionally and verbally abusive husband
My husband and I have lived together for 17 years. He is an alcoholic and verbally abusive when he drinks and sometimes when he doesn't drink.Can he legally disable the car or keep me from driving it to go to work to punish me? I am the sole supporter of the family.The car is in my name.

Please go back and reread your question. Doesn't it strike you that you are asking the wrong question?
If you choose to stay in this outrageous situation, then you should know that if the car was acquired during the marriage it is community property. He has the right to do anything he wants to the car. He is as much an owner as you are. Which means that out of alcholic stupor and anger he can sabotage everything that you have worked to put together. And you are standing there allowing it to happen.
There are alternatives. Any one of the lawyers on this site can steer you to a better alternative.
