Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Enforcement of decree
Please advise how I can have my ex pay the amount ordered in the divorce decree, he says he will not pay the ordered amount of the property settlement and has tried to file bankruptcy and listed me as a creditor, but the bankruptcy court told him he did not meet the requirements for bankruptcy, so he withdrew his petition. Is there any method I can pursue to have the decree enforced?
thank you in advance

There are many ways to enfore a judgment in a decree. You could send a sheriff out to seize non-exempt assets. You could try a turnover order.
Good luck

Yes you can force your ex to pay - but time is very important. You have 2 years to go back to court. He can be found in contempt and be faced with jail if he does not pay. You can also put leins on property and have the sheriff or constable seize property. My phone is 817 261-2671. Good luck and do not wait too long.
