Enforcing Child Support
I am a single mother trying to get support for my two children. There are court ordered child support for both of my children who have different fathers. Neither one see the children, or pays what is owed, and when it is time to go to court, neither show up! What can I do about this? I feel like I am losing this battle. Can I sue both fathers with an attorney for child support? If so what steps do I take? Will I have to take on the responsibilty of taking care of my children alone for the rest of my life? Please help!

You can sue both fathers for contempt of court in failing to pay court-ordered child support, either with your own attorney or through the Attorney General. If they do not show up in court, an order can be issued to arrest them and bring them to court. The Attorney General has a waiting list and prefers mothers who are receiving welfare. If the father is found in contempt, he can be placed in jail for up to 6 months for each missed payment until he pays some child support.
