Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Enforcing divorce decree

My husband and I divorced in 2002. He has not met financial obligations ordered in the divorce decree in an amount in excess of $50,000. Is it necessary for me to hire an attorney and file suit against him since he is already in violation of a court order? I am not asking for any additional sum. How would I go about seeing that the court order is enforced?

You always have the right to represent yourself. You can go to the county law library to review the casebooks.

Since you have so much at stake, I would advise you to hire a lawyer to file an enforcement by contempt action, in order to be sure that it is being done correctly.
