Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Engagement Rights for if fiancee is hosptialized

I am 18 yrs old and my fiancee i 18.We both were in a car wreck and his father has power of attorney for him cause he lost his memory and his regaining it.He remembers me and is asking for me from what his sister is telling me.His father will not let me talk to him or see him.I wanted to know if there was anyway that since we are engaged and I have a ring to prove it I have rights to be with him.We were planning on going to the courthuse and getting married in December and now I dont know cause he moght not ever get his mentatlity level back.I was just wanting to know if there was away I could go about getting partail custody or all so we could be together.I know its alot of resposibility but I love him and he loves me .He never wanted his parents to seperate us and he isnt safe with either parent. His dad beat him when he was young and mom mentally abused him that what he had told me before the wreck.PLease email me telling me what I can do.

You think you've asked a simple question, but in fact, it is a very complex question.

If his father has power of attorney, then he's in control.

Fiancee's have no legal standing in Texas.

Have you tried to visit him in the hospital?

Of course, if a guardianship lawsuit is opened in court, you can intervene and see if you can get some access to him.

Why not talk to his family and see what they are willing to allow you to do?

Good luck!
