Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Establishing residency

I recently moved from Jim Wells county to Travis county to live with family. My husband and I are currently seperated. In order to file for divorce in Travis county, what type of residency would I need to establish? Do I need to register with the county (voter registration or driver's license) or would a simple change of address with my bank work?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Re: Establishing residency

Before you can file for divorce you must live in one county for 90 days.

Any proof will be ok.

Normally only your spouse will make an issue of it.

Since you must swear and the end of the divorce in front of the Judge that you lived in Texas for at least 6 months and in ____ county for 90 days, it's usually not a big issue.

Good luck!
