Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

In the event of the death of a parent, can the non-related legal guardians (that would adopt) or the minor child be held liable for any debts the parent had? Final expenses, medical bills, other debts, etc? I'm in Texas, the child would be coming to us from Georgia.

Nobody is personally liable for the debts of a dead person unless he (the living person) is a co-debtor.
