Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Ex-girlfriend to have male live in with my 4 year old son

My ex-girlfried and I have joint custody of my 4 year old son in the state of Texas. My problem is that she is moving into an apartment with a male roommate. I am not sure that they are an item, but am concerned about what my child may be subjected to if they are involved, or if not who this man may bring into the home. The custody papers do not specify that she can not live with a person of opposite sex that is not related. She claims that this is a person she works with, and therefore would not know a lot about him. Please let me know if there are any rules or regulations on this manner. I am very concerned about my son. The mother has moved him about four times in the last year, and almost went out of state with him about a month ago. Need some help in Texas Shane G.

It sounds like you have already finished a suit affecting the parent child relationship in Texas.

You have the option to modify this last court ruling.

Some courts do not like people of the opposite sex living together if they are not married, but it would depend on the court of continuing jurisdiction.

If you live in the Houston area, give me a call at 713-847-6000.

Best of luck.
