Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Can I get my ex-husband to help with my two childrens college tuition?

I was divorced in 1991 in Texas. I now live in Pennsyvania. My ex-husband lives in California. My child support ends on 6/29/98. I have paid the college tuition for three of my 5 children. I would like my ex-husband to help with our lasts child tuition at the University of Colorado. Currently, I am paying college tuition for our daughters at Penn State and Coastal Carolina University. Is there any legal recourse for the state of California or do we have to abide by the jurisdiction of Texas? Please indicate how to go about getting him to help with these two remaining college tuitions. Thanks.

Pennsylvania Law of Support for College Education

In Pennsylvania unless there is a written agreement to provide support as part of thedivorce action, a party can not be compelled to contribute to the college education of the children.

I do not California law. I suggest you attemptto discover what remedies are availblein California. Your children would have toparticipate in the legal action if one is filed.I suggest you consult with legal counsel to research this issue and review all you divorce documentation.

child support in college

I do not think that you will find a court in Texas which will order child support through college when it was not in the original decree.
