Ex-husband lied about debt

My sister's divorce was final three weeks ago and a collections agency just called about an unpaid hospital bill from 2003. Her husband lied and said he had paid it prior to the divorce.

What recourse does she have?

most judges take a very dim view of perjury. Could be very costly. If he just wants to agree to pick it up that might solve the problem. Your sister through her attorney should file a motion to clarify the judgment. Proving perjury could be a problem if there were no diret questions concerning the hospital debt. Good Luck.
