ex-husband moving to Colorado
My ex got a job in Colorado and is moving in March. He has custody and the kids don't want to go. The ages of the kids are 16,14,and 13. Is there something I can do to stop him from taking them? I've heard that once the kids are 12 and up, they can choose where they want to live. Is that true?

At this advanced age, children have a large say in determining with which parent they will live. You may file a motion to modify custody. If the children are firm in their desires then you have very strong considerations to grant that motion.

Basil gave you good advice. Judges are not bound by a rule that says they have to do what the kids want but they are likely to respect the children's wishes unless your ex can show that there is reason to believe that they will be much worse off being with you. If the children have criminal problems or if you do, make sure that you retain an attorney and tell your attorney everything.
