Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My ex-husband has the right to possession of the children over the Thanksgiving holiday - 6pm Tuesday through 6pm on Sunday. He is planning to return them on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I would like to make plans for the holiday weekend. Do I have to take posession back or can I state all or nothing so that I can take the children with me or not?

Your order will require you to surrender the child at the beginning of the visitation period, so you must do that.

When the ex comes to pick up the children, simply tell him that you'll be out of town until Sunday night, and your house will be locked up, with the lights turned off. And make sure you're not home on Friday night.

The alternative to this is that you're faced with a nasty situation when he brings the kids back on Friday - the big fight at the front door, with the kids looking onl.
