Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My ex-husband and I were set to go back to the Attorney General because they were going to increase the child support, so he went and quit his job as a teacher. . . .will they lower my child support now?

Under federal mandate, the OAG is to review support obligations every three years for a modification, either up or down. Your question is hinting at a voluntary under employment or unemployment situation which occurred if your ex terminated employment because he believed his child support was going to increase. If this is the case then, its critical, evidence supporting your allegations is brought to the Judges attention. The judge MAY see your ex husband's actions as a reason to set support based on his ABILITY to earn, not unemployment benefits or wages from the new job, especially if they are considerably less that the teaching job.
