Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

my ex-wife has not been involved in my kids education and has let my 15 yr son fail 7 th grade twice and now he failed 8 th grade now , along with my daughter has failed 2nd grade. now i'm figthing for custody for my kids. plus my ex-wife has not worked in over 9 yrs and just started working in 2010 and work for 6 months and quit her job .
