Can my ex-wife, whom I have joint custody of my 12yr old that lives with her, have him committed or have child protective services pick him up without my consent?

It depends on your final decree of divorce. The final decree allocates all rights and duties between the parents. It is possible that she can, and it's possible that she can't. You should pay an attorney to review your final decree for you. A consultation like that would probably cost you $200 - $300 and could be done over the phone.

But: Even if she has the right to kick off that process, if you are convinced it is NOT in the best interest of your child, you can still take action. You might be able to get a change in conservatorship if you have the right facts.

I'm sorry your son is having to go through this.

Good luck!!
