Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
family asault
My boyfriend and I got into an argument and i shoved him because I felt threatened. He called the cops and I admitted that yes I did shove him. Because he had a scratch on his arm they arrested me. I posted bail at 1500 in which he paid to get me out. Now my court date is on the 8th of August. He did not press charges and wants all of this dropped. He spoke to the DA and she said that it will probably be dropped however she cant guarantee. Now I was told I need to get a lawyer on my own. We do not have the money to get a lawyer and we were told we can get our 1500 back once I go to court. I dont know how to plead and if I really do need to get a lawyer. It was a stupid incident and we both just want this dropped and to get our money back. We dont know how to go about this and I just do not want anything on my record. I have a clean record. I would really just like to talk to someone to figure out to drop all of this. Thank you.

Re: family asault
This type of problem does not just 'get dropped'. Many counties refuse to drop charges, and require the victim to testify. You and/or your husband need to hire a lawyer for you. Some judges will not appoint you a lawyer if you paid a cash bond. Your cash bond will be refunded at the conclusion of the case. A good lawyer may be able to get this resolved in your favor.
