Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I need a family attorney, but I do not have the funds to get one. I have 3 kids and my ex owes 13,000 in back child support, doesn't carry health insurance, and is in contempt of several other issues. But yet he took me to court to have his child support lowered, and still did not have to pay. Also he moved away about a year ago, has only seen the kids 4 times, and I just found out that he moved back without telling me or even seeing his kids, but yet he claims one of the kids on the taxes. I need help, please can someone send me in the right direction?
Thanks

First, you do need an attorney. You might call Legal Aid or the Texas Legal Services Center (www.tlsc.org).
Second, file a police report and then tell the IRS that he is wrongfully claiming one of the children on his taxes. Next year, file your taxes as soon as you possibley can and claim the children.
If he has an arrearage and he is not paying his child support, sue him again through the AG's office. Eventually he will go to jail. That won't put money in your pocket, but sometimes family members will pay the debt just to keep him out of jail.
Good luck!!
