Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Hi I really don�t know what I really need to do I have a family of three kids am common law marriage. Two of my kids are from another man. He has a lot of problems with drugs and I don�t know what else. I fear for my kid the reason is because the father of two of my kids send me a letter saying that he wanted pictures of my kids and that someone is trying to kill him. I really fear and I could like to change there last name. I don�t see him talked to him nothing. What can I do were should I go I don�t have a lot of $. Thanks

Save the letter as documentation. Since there has not been an incident of violence, the ADA probably will not seek a Protective Order, but it doesn't cost anything to ask them. In the alternative, contact the JP office and consider a peace bond.
