Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

family law- child support

I am receiving child support through the state because my ex claims he cannot hold down a job due to mental illness. I only get $235 a month, which is not a lot. I know that he is working right now full-time but he said if I take him back to court he will quit his job. Is there any way that I can get more child support? And what if he doesn't hold down a job, do I have to just stay with the $235 until my child is 18?

Re: family law- child support

If you take him to court, he would be ordered to pay child support based upon his income. if he quits, the child support just keeps adding up but not necessarily in your pocket. He could be subject to jail time for failing to pay child support sometimes that motivates them to come up with some money.
