Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

family law/consumer law/legal ethics

i am a single divorced mother and i bought a house of my own 3 years ago, and last yr met a man whom has now asked to marry me, what are my legal rights as far as the man moving in with me before being married or even when i get married as far as my home and my belongings staying as mine, and what would my legal rights be if we open an acct together before we are married, will i owe anything to this man if for some reason something may go wrong and he chooses to leave or is asked to leave before we get married or even after we get married, i dont want to lose everything i have because i dont know what my legal rights actually are and what is rightfully mine.

Property before the marriage is separate property UNLESS it is comingled. Your husband-to-be will have a community property claim to your house unless you make the payments from your separate account and he could still possibly make a community property claim. Why not make an appointment to talk to a lawyer to see how to avoid this if it's important to you.
