There are certain provisions in a will that may be "precatory." Precatory language is not binding. You will need to have an attorney review the will to advise you what is precatory and what is not. Generally, wills deal with disposing of property. Anything beyond that may be precatory.
A will does not have to be probated. However to settle the estate you need to consult an attorney. I believe the procedure is called a family settlment. You will need to have all of the hiers at law and perhaps all of the beneficiaries under the will to sign off.
