Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

father abandens family

My husband abandon me and our two girls. He has popped in 2-3 times in in the last year. I found out that he is hooked on shooting up speed. I DO NOT want my kids around him. I am now able to file for divorce. What forms do I file to dissolve his parental rights. I don't think that he will fight me on this.

Thank You,

Holly

Re: father abandens family

I encourage you to file for divorce as soon as possbible. If he keeps "popping" in, you probably need temporary orders to prevent this from continuing.

However, it is difficult to terminate his parental rights.

You can, however, limit his vistation to supervised visits. That will keep your children safe. The counties around Harris County use the SAFE program for visitation. I don't know what the other counties do in Texas.

Best of luck.
