Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

father back after 4 years

when i divorced 10 years ago he did not continue a relationship with our daughter except for a visit on birthdays etc about once a year until he eventually stopped and was then in prison for 2 years and now that they are taking child suport from check he is attempting to see her and i have been told to hire an attorney for supervised visitation as she does not know him really. is there a good chance the judge will allow supervised visitation or is this pointless?

Most Judges will agree that there needs to be a period for the two of them to get reacquainted. Based on what you have said, supervised visitation and then a step-up visitation schedule does not sound unreasonable. You need to find a good family law attorney in your area to help you. This is not something you can DIY.
