Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I am the father and have custodial custody with jurisdiction in texas. the mother lives in california. i have heard that when my child turns 12 that he can ask a judge to live with other parent. is this true when the parent lives in a state without jurisdiction? my hope is that texas would not allow him to move so far away from me and that if he wanted to live with her she would have to move to texas.

There is nothing in Texas law that allows a child to approach a judge when there is no custody case pending.
If someone has actually filed a custody suit, and it is still pending, there is a mechanism whereby one can ask that a child be interviewed in chambers by the Judge. But nothing in Texas law allows a child to choose which parent he will live with.
