Father filing for custody

What would I have to do to try to gain full custody of my child?

You did not put down your zip code so I don't know what county you live in.

I suggest that you contact a family law attorney in your county. There are many excellent family law attorneys on this website.

Basically, the burden of proof is on you to prove why custody should be changed.

The child can sign a statement stating who he/she would like to live with if they are over the age of 12 -- BUT it is NOT binding on the court.
