Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

father giving up rights to child

my ex and i have joint custody, with our son staying with me for a week and my ex for a week. the situation is not working well because we can not get along and his girlfriend is always overstepping her boundaires. I asked my ex to sign over his rights as a parent to me and I would not go after him ever for any kind of finanical support. if we are both agreeable to it how easy is this to do? he has a good job and home, he just doesnt want anything to do with me and he is looking for every chance to not to have to pay any money to me for support, even if that means not ever seeing his son again.

Re: father giving up rights to child

You can file a Motion to Terminate the Parental Rights. If he agrees to that, he would have no further child support obligation.
