Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

father in jail

THe father didn't show up in court because he was in the emergency room. The next day he got put in jail. The attorney general said he needed to show proof that he was there. He's still in jail and the mother of the kids will not let anyone pick up the kids but the father. Reason is because she has some paper stating that if he shows up at school they are to notify police so he can get picked up. Not sure if the mother knows he's in jail. We don't know how long he will be in jail. His court keeps getting moved. How do we find out what kind of order she has?

Re: father in jail

If it's a court order, it's in the court's file. Ask to see the court file and see what orders are in there.

You can also go to the county clerk and ask for a certified copy of the most recent court order. Anyone can order it, unless the court has "sealed" the records.

The price is usually around 50 cents to $1 a page.

Most places do not have personal checks. They usually take cash or credit cards.
