Father that has neglected his child now want to be part of childs life

My child will be two years old in July and his father has made it--name removed--point to deny him. The childs grandparents didnt even know that the child existed. Now out of the blue he and the grandparents want to be part of his life and he wants to take my son for--name removed--weekend. My son doesnt even know them. What do I need to do?

Without an order of the court, you do not have to surrender the child. If he wants to be part of the child's life (and he could do that as the father of the child), he needs to pay child support not only beginning now, but for the past two years. The best way to do this is to file a Suit Affecting the Parent Child Relationship. You would likely need an attorney for that. Another choice would be to seek assistance from the Attorney General's office for the delinquent and current child support. As part of that effort, an order concerning possession and access is routinely obtained.
