Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

i am the father of a two year old boy, i never signed birth certificate another man did, the other man married the childs mom and has raised the baby as his own, now they are divorcing and the mother wants me to sign legal documents staing im the real father so the other guy cant get visitation rights. will this make me financially responsible for the baby? can she get back pay for the last two years?

You should have a blood or dna test to verify your paternity before agreeing to anything. If you are determined to be the father, then you will have potential financial responsibility.

Here's the Family Code provision re your other question:

Sec. 154.009. RETROACTIVE CHILD SUPPORT. (a) The court may order a parent to pay retroactive child support if the parent:

(1) has not previously been ordered to pay support for the child; and

(2) was not a party to a suit in which support was ordered.
