A Father's Options in Child Support Case
My friend is being threatened with Child Support by the mother of his child, but he provides over 50% of the child's support and can prove it. Does he have a case against the mother? What steps should he take if filed against?

Re: A Father's Options in Child Support Case
I'm not sure what you mean by threatened or how you know exactly what 50% of the cost of raising the child is. The mother has the right to take the father to Court and have child support formally established. If she takes him to Court he should hire an attorney to defend him although in truth the odds of him paying less than guideline support are slim and none. Still, she can ask for back support and if he can't prove what he has been paying her he could end up owing a big arrearage.
