Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Do fathers have any rights in Dallas, TX? My girlfriend and I have been living together for the past 6 yrs. We recently had a few arguements and I have decided to go my own way and get my own place. However, I still want to have my parental rights to my daughters upheld. I have been their primary caretaker for the past 3 yrs.I dont want to take them from her, but I would like a reasonable parenting schedule to be set up between us. I have tried to discuss it with her, but get no replies. After I left the house for a few hours, she took the girls and is at a relatives house 'holding them hostage' I guess you can say. Every atty I talk to is wanting a damn arm and a leg just to handle this case. I refuse to be put on on child support or put her on child support. What can I do? Or, should I just get an atty?

I would be in an experienced family law attorney's office next week.

I would not go to the TX attorney general's office - especially without an attorney.

Yes, you are going to pay an arm and a leg. You have a contested case. Apparently the two of you do not agree. The longer you wait the more it's going to cost and the more difficult it's going to be to get your father's rights.

You need an experienced family law attorney.

You can also check out the father's rights group in the Dallas area.
