Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Father's Visitation Rights

I have a 6 month old son with an ex-girlfriend. I am on the birth certificate. He lives with her and she does not have any type of court ordered custody. I send her child support regularly. She denies me to let me take him to see his grandparents. She will not let me spend anytime alone with him. I have not tried to go to court due to I cannot afford a lawyer (she cannot afford one either). What are my rights? Any suggestions?

Re: Father's Visitation Rights

You have the right to petition the court for regular visitation. Talk to an attorney to see if you can make payments or work off the fee.

Re: Father's Visitation Rights

If you can not get visitation of your child, then you need to seek court ordered visitation. Some family law attorneys work on payment plans and take credit cards. However, once you ask the court for visitation, the court will also order child support. Be sure and keep good documentation of what support you have given her to date. Don't pay cash without a receipt.
