Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My fiancee' has around $100,000 in debt. I am selling my home.

Will his creditors come after any profit made from the sale if sold before the wedding? What if it sells after the wedding? Am I responsible for any of his prior debts?

You really should spend about $750 on a lawyer and get a pre-nuptial agreement.

Generally speaking, you do NOT marry a man's debts when you marry him. Debts are a personal obligation.

The proceeds of the sale of a homestead are exempt from garnishment or attachment by creditors for a period of six months after the sale (regardless of whether it's sold before or after the wedding). You should keep the money in a separate bank account that's in your name only.
