Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Can I file a motion with the court on my own if my research has found that my current divorce attorney is not putting forth the necessary effort? I've paid more than the original contract requested, in fees. It's unfortunate because the case is actually "too" easy. My spouse is not paying the full amount of ordered child support, and not abiding by two other "spelled out" terms of the temporary orders and ignoring a seperate spousal support court order. All of these issues could be addressed in one motion with one court date.

Please advise.

Thx

The court won't deal with you directly (allow you to file your own motions, or set hearings) until you fire your lawyer - you have to get him to withdraw. Send him a CERTIFIED LETTER (do not pick up a telephone) - pay the $5.54 postage - and ask him to withdraw, telling him that you want to represent yourself.

But this is probably not a good idea. It is extremely perilous to represent yourself in court.

You might think about contacting another (better) lawyer and getting him to "substitute in" for your first lawyer.
