Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I filed for divorce and paid my attorney. The last item in the "Original petition for divorce contains, "It was necessary for Petitioner to secure the services of ______, a licensed attorney, to prepare and prosecute this suit. To effect an equitable division of the estate of the parties and as a part of the division, judgment for attorneys fees, expenses, and costs through trial and appeal should be granted against Respondent and in favor of Petitioner for the use and benefit of Petitioners attorney; or, in the alternative, Petitioner requests that reasonable attorneys fees, expenses, and costs through trial and appeal be taxed as costs and be ordered paid directly to Petitioners attorney, who may enforce the order in the attorneys own name. Petitioner requests post-judgment interest as allowed by law." He gave me a discount, as a disabled veteran, Is my lawyer trying to get my wife to pay the rest of his fees? This is the only issue keeping my wife from agreeing completely.

Tell your wife that you are not going to insist on her paying any part of the of your lawyer's fee. Tell your lawyer that your wife will not agree to a final decree that awards attorneys fees to him. the fact that attorney's fees have been pled does not mean that you are required to insist on an award of attorney's fees.
