Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Filing for divorce in a differnt state

I've lived in Utah nearly my entire life, but I just recently moved to texas. I've been here for not even 2 months. Now I know that TX law requires residency for 6 months before filing. I was wondering if there is a way around this. If maybe I could possibly file in Utah. Just trying to get this done as quickly as possible.

Re: Filing for divorce in a differnt state

You have to live in Texas for 6 months and in the county for 90 days for the divorce to be final. You can file now and by the time it's ready, you will qualify. Good Luck.
