Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Final Divorce Hearing - But Still No Decree

My boyfriend attended his final divorce hearing in June 2002. The divorce was granted. However, he has still not received a divorce decree. We were told it was because his ex-wife did not pay her lawyer. Her lawyer is refusing to file the divorce decree.

He has tried to work with his attorney but to no avail. Is there anything we can do legally to force this decree to be filed with the court. There are no more issues to resolve, everything was decided by the Judge in June. What can he do?

We are desperate to move on with our life!

You could ask your attorney to file a motion to enter the decree. It might be less expensive to be sure your x paid the lawyer.
