Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Financil obligation

If a man and woman live together for 12 or more years and then marry but divorce within the year, is the male spouse still responsible for the care and well being of his wife like a couple that had been legallymarried for all the precceding years. I believe the longer a couple is married the grater the financial responsibility. Example (retirement benefits, monthly support of bills and other expenses.) There are no children. The wife does not work. She has not worked for several years due to an injury at work but does not draw any benefits for the injury.
