Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Finding a child that was taken out of state

I would like to know how do I go about finding my child that was taken from me when her mother died? My daughter is suppose to be with her mother's parents. I have been trying to find her and bring her home. Do I not have rights? I live in Texas and they live in Louisiana. They will have nothing to do with me. I have not have any contact with my child since she was about 3 years ago. Please help me if you can

Assuming that there are not existing court orders to the contrary, a surviving parent's rights to custody of a child supercede a grandparents. A competent Texas family law attorney can assist you with fiing the appropriate petition to get your child back.
