Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Foreclosure/Divorce

When we were married, we bought a house and put it in my name only. In the divorce decree it states he financially responsible for the house and must have it put in his name within 1 year. (May 2008) I just got forclosure papers from the lender. What can I do? It's going on my credit, but he's supposed to be responsible according to the divorce decree?

Re: Foreclosure/Divorce

File a petition for contempt for his failure to make the payments. Did you take a lien against the house at the time of the divorce? If you want to save your credit, contact the lender (as the original sole owner, and the current lienholder) and see if you can negotiate a solution to the immediate problem. The damages you suffer as a result are your damages in the lawsuit against your exhusband.
