Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Just found out I have a child after 3 years
I need to know what steps I need to take in trying to get access to my daughter with out going to court. Meaning after 3 years this female searches for me finds me tells me I have a daughter then states I dont want you to see her unless you want to be a part of her life forever. Of course I said yes then I saw her twice in the beginning of September then that was it. I never get to see her. I just found out 2 months ago and I have only seen her twice (September 5th and September 13th 2006) So I dont have a lot of money and I dont have a great job. Which now that I know I have a child I am trying to get a better job etc. But for the mean time what can I do legally on my side without the cost of court to send her a certified letter or what. Stating I do want to be a part of my daughters life and I do want to be able to see her. Or what can I do. I dont want to go the court route unless I have to. Maybe with a letter or some legal way to do this on my own something can be worked out then if not then by all means I will start saving money for a lawyer etc.

There is no other way than the "court route" to get what you want. The "certified letter" is just something that will be used against you when the time comes and is a useless exercise. You better find a way to get into court to protect yourself. You are already 3+ years behind in child support and that only gets worse by your inaction. As soon as she contacts the AG's office and wants the past due child support, then you will be in court for sure and probably 5+ years behind in child support. If this doesn't worry you, I don't know what would.
