Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My friend was married 11 years ago. When she got married she quit her well paying job in Florida and moved with him to Texas. He paid her a salary to help him in his lucrative business (she kept the books and tax records). A few weeks ago she stopped receiving her paycheck (her only means of support - which she also used to run the household) and when she asked him about it, he didn't say anything. Things went downhill from there, living in the house was too much (arguing and bickering) so she came back to Florida where she has family (somewhere to live) to get away until she could figure out what to do. The question here is: Can he just stop supporting her in that way? She has NO means of support, is getting to the age (62) where it is difficult to find employment, and has no current skills to speak of. When she quit her job initially she was a dental technician; however, over an 11 year span this technology has changed a great deal. (She lived in the Dallas area).

Since they were married in Florida, I would consult with a Florida Divorce Attorney.
Good Luck!
