Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

A friend's daughter has a friend that has left home due to an unhealthy environment. He is moving from place to place spending the night with various friends but needs a place to live. He is a senior in high school, has a job and a car. What are the legal implications in housing a minor without parental consent?

you could be charged with harboring a runaway, which i believe is a class a misdemeanor.

If the child is older than 17, then he would not be considered a runaway. If there are no oustanding court orders that restrict his residence (divorce decrees, juvenile proceedings, etc), and he notifies his parents/law enforcement of his address (so that he cannot be considered a missing person) and he is at least 17, then the police will not get involved. He might consider getting emancipated.
