Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I Was given full custody in one state. When my wife filed divorce in another state, that state TX did a temporary order affecting the child parent relationship which I signed because I was told I had to. Which state has rights to the custody? and which state should I follow? and how did TX have the right to change custody that was given to me in another state where my daughter and I live? The fact that I have custody was not brought up in TX..

Sounds like a real mess.

You need to get all your papers together and meet with an attorney face-to-face.

Normally the state where the first lawsuit occurs has jurisdiction. Addtionally, it sounds like the other state is where the kid is living.

Why wasn't the TX court made aware of another court order from another state? Sounds very strange to me.

Run -- don't walk -- to see an attorney.

If the case was around Houston, Texas, I highly recommend PATRICIA BUSHMAN at 713.807.9405. Tell her that FRAN sent you!
