Future social security

My husband and I have been married for 29 years. Getting a divorce (got papers

off internet) we have settled divisions between each other. When we retire and we draw social security If I don't remarry and he dies can I draw his social security even if he remarrys?

Once you are divorced, you lose any claim to his property or retirment unless it is provided in the divorce decree.

Contact social security and ask them.

My parents divorced after many years and my mother received social security based on my father's contributions since they had been married over 10 years.

Social security is a federal program and the State of Texas does not control the federal government.

I agree with the previous attorney replies, but feel compelled to comment anyway.

When you have thousands of dollars in retirement monies at stake, why are you not paying an attorney a few hundred dollars to review your papers to confirm that you are protected?
