Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Gaining custody of a nonrelated minor
My girlfriend is living with her mom and my parents want to get custody of her. her mother is neglecting her and her biological father has warrants out for his arrest for sexually abusing her when she was younger. My girlfriend has had problems with her teeth for about a year and her mom hasn't done anything about it.She recently attempted suicide and her mom sent her to a mental hospital were the main thing they did was dope her up. she was supposed to go to therapy when she got out but her mom didn't take her because she couldn't find the office. i need to know if we have any ground to stand as far as getting custody.

Re: Gaining custody of a nonrelated minor
Your post does not mention your ages, but I am going to assume that your girlfriend is less than 17 years of age.
You have no rights, and your parents have no rights, unless her parents grant them to you. If she is in a dangerous situation, then your parents should contact CPS and alert them the dangers, and their willingness to foster her. Having dental issues is probably insufficient to justify intervention. If mom took her to a psychiatric facility, then possibly there was a good reason. Generally speaking, in a psychiatric facility, the patients are drugged to assist in their recovery.
If your parents believe that this is a situation that they want to battle on her behalf, they will need to hire a lawyer.
