Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Gaining legal custody of niece's twins

Hello, my niece is pregnant with twins and she doesn't want them. She has asked me to take them. I am willing, however my husband and i want this legal. we really don't have the funds to get a lawyer, but we don't want her trying to take them back down the line. both parties live in Texas. What is the best way to handle this? Is being legal guardians enough? Where do we start?

I answered this question yesterday but apparently my answer did not go through. Here it is again.

You don't want guardianship, you want custody.

Big difference.

You want to do this legally so that she can't just show up one day and take the kids from you.

Also, if is there a father involved? If so, he will need to be notified of the lawsuit too.

I don't go outside of Harris County but PATRICIA BUSHMAN does. I would call her. Her prices are reasonable. 713.805.9591. Tell her that FRAN sent you.

If you just want to talk, I charge a discounted rate of $100 an hour to talk and explain all of this to you in greater detail.
